Hello again! I have to admit that I wasn’t planning on doing a post on haircare, but Genna asked me to do one, and I couldn’t disappoint her. My hair routine is pretty minimal, so if anyone else has any tips, feel free to comment and let everyone know. Okay, let’s get to the tips.
Don’t wash your hair everyday. I usually wash my hair every other day. Sometimes I go a little longer if I can, but my hair gets oily pretty quickly. How often you should wash your hair depends on your hair texture and how often you style it. If you style it a lot, it might be better to give your hair a longer break between washes. I also recommend focusing the shampoo only around the scalp area. Shampoo can be very drying, so I try to keep it only where I need it.
Get less trims. If you’re happy with your hair length, feel free to get a trim whenever you want. If you’re trying to grow your hair, getting less trims is a good idea. There’s a common myth that trimming your hair makes it grow faster, but it actually doesn’t make a difference. Your hair grows from the follicles, not from the ends. I’m not saying to stop getting hair trims all together because they can be beneficial in other ways. Getting trims can prevent split ends and breakage. That will make your hair look thicker and healthier. Preventing breakage is important because if you get really bad breakage, your can lose hair length at the bottom. My advice for growing your hair, is to only trim it when you have to. When I’m trying to grow my hair, I only trim it once or twice a year.
Use less heat. Styling your hair can be fun, but heat damage is not so fun. Even if you use heat protectant, your hair can still be damaged. A great way to reduce heat use is to let your hair air dry. Instead of washing my hair in the morning, I wash it at night. That way my hair has all night to dry. If you’re worried about your hair drying in a weird way, sleeping in braids or with your hair in a bun can prevent this. Letting your hair dry in braids will make it wavy.
And sleeping with it in a tightly wrapped bun will give you loose curls. Ditching, or at least cutting back on, the straighteners and curlers will also do your hair good. I usually wear my hair natural and only style it for special occasions. I think it’s good for everyone to embrace their natural hair texture. It’s empowering and good for your hair.
Pay attention to your hair’s needs. There are so many different hair types and textures that there’s no one hair routine that will work for everybody. Some people barely need to do anything with their hair to keep it healthy, while others will need a lot more care. If you have dry hair, you might want to try some leave-in conditioners or oils. You can also go longer between washes. If your hair gets oily quickly, it might be a good idea to try some dry shampoo between washes. There are hair masks, deep conditioners, and tons of other things you can use on your hair. You just have to find out what works for you.
Well those are some of my tips. I’m sorry if I missed any important ones, but I’d love to hear any tips you guys might have. I hope these tips weren’t too obvious. Thanks for reading!

I love your tips- one thing I do do is not wash my hair everyday. I feel like washing your hair daily gets rid of natural oils. Also, I love all of your hair pictures-you have gorgeous hair!
Thanks for your post!
